Primary School

Diamond Academy located at Transview Estate in Kenya, has a new primary school block with enough classrooms to go up to class 8. As of August 2018, intake upto class 7 is on going.

THE MAIN SUBJECTS TAUGHT ARE:

Reading, General knowledge- Art- Spelling, handwriting- Mental Math- Scripture- Computer classes, Maths and English, Science, Kiswahili, Social studies and CRE.

READING

Standard One's are expected to continue with the Lady Bird series upto Level 10b. Standard Two's are expected to complete the series and start writing book reports. Standard Three's write book reports for children's classics.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

Every term a topic is picked from either science, geography, history or social studies and taught throughout term during the general studies lesson. The classroom displays are changed at the beginning of each term to reflect this topic. This topic is further reinforced during the art lessons and educational field trips. Some of the topics covered include families, homes and buildings; animals; plants, occupations and parts of the body among others. Standard Two's and Three's are expected to research on the general topic and are examined at the end of the term. HOMEWORK

A manageable amount of homework is given to each class depending on their age. For kindergarten the anticipated amount of time to complete the homework is 30-40minutes. For lower primary children, the anticipated amount of time needed to complete their homework is a maximum of 1 hour.

HOLIDAY REVIEWS

During the holiday children are given homework to help them review what they learnt during the school term.
